The Smart Home Open Day

The Smart Home Open Day was held on September 27, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. During the Open day, several different activities were carried out for students and teachers, as well as project partners. Part of the activities were conducted live and part online. The activities that were carried out during the open day were: Demonstration of the ELPROS model, Smart Touch company from Osijek participation, Virtual walk through a smart home, Novelties and technologies on smart homes from the company IKNX Cordoba, Information about the Erasmus + programme. Also, sustainability goals were discussed with students, they watched the animated film “Home Smart Home” and videos of all smart home models made within the partnership. Three members of the Hungarian team from  the BMSC Zipernowsky Károly Technical School  came to the event to see the smart home model in ELPROS, now fully developed and in use. They were explained its elaborate structure, electrical installation and automation at a workshop with hosts. The way the model is used in class was demonstrated during the activities with students. The company IKNX from Córdoba, Spain, had an online presentation at the Open Day in Osijek devoted to smart home technology, Julio Fernández talked about a big project carried out by three programmers and 10 technicians. They worked for five months to equip a facility with warehouses with up‐to‐date systems that save energy and water consumption, control CO2 levels, heating and cooling of the space and all other functions required by its owner, ALDI Real Estate that has specialized in renting industrial, commercial and health care buildings.   When asked what qualities should students intending to learn and practice in IKNX possess, Mr. Fernández answered in one word – passion. Knowledge can be acquired, skills developed, but the element of passion makes people advance. Considering the business success of his company, he concluded that for those interested in working in the field there is both presence and future. This field has a strong governmental support as it is necessary to  save energy on one side and preserve the environment on the other.

Active spring holidays with Smart Home

Several Smart home events took place during the spring holiday in ELPROS.

Two of the student groups participated in the activities regarding Smart home animated video and Small-scale smart home model as well as the group of VET teachers participating in the Smart home National webinar.

On 3rd of April students who were working on the small scale model with the teacher Kristijan Čvek developed model using Arduino components and tested it out. Other student group with their teacher Danijela Ivanović-Ižaković have added new functionalities to the Home Smart Home vied with VR tools.

On April 5th VET teachers had the opportunity to hear about the project and Erasmus+ funding scheme, see the smart home model ELPROS team has developed and it’s demonstration by the ELPROS team teacher Alen Hmelina

Hybrid team meeting Novi Sad-Panevėžys

Another hybrid team meeting was held from March 18 to 20. Some important topics were discussed during the meeting. The project teams worked on finding the best possible way of sharing the results of the project with all those interested in smart technology, the way of teaching students and adult learners. Smart technology is the way to create our sustainable future. The meeting included topics such as: Creating animated content about smart homes for project dissemination and other school activities, organization of National webinars, Smart home open days and Smart home VET net formation.
